About Me
Welcome! I’m glad you’re here.
Emily Carreiro
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Toronto, I proudly identify as a Portuguese-Canadian, with family roots tracing back to the beautiful Azores. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from York University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto. As a registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), I am committed to providing compassionate care.
I have completed formal certification in Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy through Loyola University in Chicago, and I prioritize ongoing professional development, regularly attending training in trauma and mental health. My specialties lie in health and mental health, utilizing diverse treatment modalities with a strong focus on psychodynamic and trauma-informed therapies.
With years of experience providing counselling and system navigation, I’ve worked across various sectors, including critical care, trauma medicine, palliative care, geriatrics, and mental health. Currently, I serve as a front-line social worker at a university hospital in downtown Toronto.
My passion for this work stems from both professional expertise and personal lived experiences. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to support individuals and families from all walks of life, and I approach each interaction with trust and respect.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me!
